Two months, wow. Busy, busy boy. Well for anyone that has become the family IT person, you should get a laugh from this.

So many of the pundits of Obama throw this word around. He is a Socialists they cry. He will bring democracy down and replace it with his socialist ways. Socialism is defined by Merriam-Webster as
“1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done”

OK so the Marxist word will instantly send people into hysterics, but otherwise couldn’t this country use some of these thoughts to help us out. Yes we need ownership for our actions. Currently everyone wants to blame someone else for the ills of the land. Instead take ownership and fix it. It is funny to me that people will scream socialist, but these same people are OK with the socialist idea of bailing out Wall Street. That was a socialist move. Meanwhile Obama says it is the Right of every American to have affordable health insurance. Is that so wrong?

I agree that a happy median has to be met. I don’t want a program for everything. But this country does need help for the common person. Education, health care, energy, and infrastructure. The last eight years of the trickle down effect has not helped. A change is needed. I think youth can bring this change. A new tone has to come from this country. We can change and have to, to move forward.

If you don’t know who Kings of Leon are you should give them a try. They have been called a modern southern rock band. There sound has progressed with each album. The first album Youth and Young Manhood was very loose and sounded almost gruff. I know VW used one of there soungs, Molly’s Chamber, in an ad. Not much polish to it and I loved it. The second album Aha Shake Heartbreak is probably my favorite album. Again not over produced with a good raw energy. Every song on that album is good. The third album Because of the Times spent more time in the studio. You can here the polished sounds put into it. But again I was not disappointed.

This new album, Only By the Night, again sounds even more produced. I will admit the energy doesn’t seem to be in it. Granted it usually takes a couple of listens before I decide weather an album is good. So time will tell. No matter what you should give them a listen. Recommended songs would be Trani, Four Kicks, Rememo, Where Nobody Knows, Day Old Blue, Fans, and California Waiting.

If it all comes crashing down, music is what I will miss the most. Amy can play guitar and sing very well, but I will miss the excitement of hearing that band that gets you moving.

This is for the people in DC. Lets actually do something for the people of this country.

I know everyone has seen it, but if you need to turn that frown upside down, this will do it.

The song is called “It’s Coming Down”. Great song. It really is about his girl leaving him, but really fits today. I have this weird obsession with some kind of post apocalyptic life (like the movie The Postman). So could I get my wish and would we be ready? I don’t think I am ready but I do have a plan in mind.

So with today’s news and the drop in the stock market, how hurt is the country going to be. I know first hand of a small company trying to make it. The company I work for, eight employees, has struggled the past couple of months with accounts receivable versus accounts payable. We have been trying to get a short term loan to pay off vendors and collect the money we owe. This will definitely effect us in a negative way. We don’t have a way to effectively save money. We run pretty lean employee wise and surprisingly our waste is negligible. So this will be intresting.

On a side note of my geekyness. I installed Windows Home Server on my home file server. Pretty cool piece of software. Works well out of the box. It will need some tweaking. I haven’t had time to sit down and read up on it yet. Here is a link to a free 120 day trial from MS. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Do the Republicans really think this was the correct choice for VP. She will end up bringing McCain down (not that he will need the help). If you haven’t seen the Katie Couric interview, you have got to see it.

It is painful to watch. I will be watching the VP debates on Thursday to see how bad it goes.
